The Syntergy Story
Tyler Lawton formed www.syntergy.com, Inc. (Syntergy) in 1997. At the time, he was working at QUALCOMM Incorporated as a consultant in the Management Information Systems department. When Qualcomm implemented Content Server as their document management system, Tyler was that project's technical lead.
At that time, Content Server had no documentation. In fact, you had to FTP Content Server from an OpenText® server. Since very few people knew Content Server well, Tyler learned to use and customize it by working directly with the source code. He soon became so proficient that OpenText® recruited him to do Content Server consulting for them on the side. In fact, Tyler led some of the first large Content Server customizations at AT&T Wireless and Sprint.
As Content Server grew in popularity, Tyler noticed that the demand for high-quality Content Server consulting was so strong that he started Syntergy. Since then, Syntergy became the first OpenText® Affinity Partner and, until early 2002, focused entirely on Content Server Syntergy continues to grow to where it now has many experienced developers across a variety of platforms.
What is Syntergy?
"Syntergy" combines "Internet" and "synergy".
Tremendous productivity and synergy happen when people access the wealth of information gathered over the years. Walls tumble between departments within corporations as they realize the benefits of sharing their information. The Internet allows information and ideas to flow uninhibited around the world. With the Internet as the backbone, companies can further share this synergy with customers, suppliers, and even competitors around the world.
Location
Syntergy's headquarters are in La Jolla, California—15 minutes from downtown San Diego. We are a distributed company, with offices and staff throughout North America.
In Spanish, "la jolla" means "the jewel". With its wonderful beaches, cultural activities, and fine restaurants, La Jolla is certainly the jewel of California. It is also home to the University of California, San Diego as well as to many bio-tech, telecommunications, and software companies.
