Syntergy developed replication
to address the need for a consolidated view of
information contained on multiple Livelink® servers.
Users have to view and access data that is created
at multiple sites around the world.
Bandwidth issues necessitate
that each site have its own Livelink® server
for users to access locally. In cases where
information is shared across sites, there is
a need for the local servers to present the
shared information in a complete listing. Users
must have access to all assignments on their
local servers, regardless of where the assignment
was created.
Syntergy developed a three-part
solution:
- The first part is the
replication process that extracts the data
from the servers, moves the data from server
to server, and updates each server with the
data. This part also includes the administration
tools necessary to manage the configuration
and maintenance replication.
- The second part is the
reconciliation process that identifies discrepancies
and manages resynchronizations so that the
current data is correct. The result is a
reporting process that allows the administrator
to reconcile differences manually or automatically.
- The third part is the
back plane modifications, which allow Livelink®,
third party modules, and in-house customizations
done with LAPI or ospace/oscript development,
or both. They work without any awareness
that replication is implemented.
